Wedding planning isn’t just about decisions, budgets, or timelines. It’s about how you process stress, emotion, responsibility, and choice during one of the most meaningful seasons of your life.
After years of planning and photographing weddings, I started noticing a pattern. Not in colors or trends, but in people. The way couples approach planning is deeply tied to how they think, feel, and seek safety when something matters this much. Some need to see it. Some need to understand it. Some carry everyone else’s emotions. Some show up best when they know exactly where they’re needed.
None of these are right or wrong. They’re instincts!
That’s how I developed the Archetypes of Wedding Planning, a framework designed to help you understand how you plan, why certain parts feel heavy, and how to move forward in a way that actually works for you (and your partner).

A Quick Glance at Each Wedding Planning Archetype:
The Visionary
“I know how I want it to feel.”
A Quick Description
The Visionary plans through emotion, aesthetics, and atmosphere. They are deeply visual and intuitive. They may struggle to explain what they want in words but light up when shown images, colors, textures, and inspiration. They’re often drawn to mood boards, Pinterest, Instagram, and saved screenshots.

The Analyst
“I need to understand the plan.”
A Quick Description
The Analyst is data-driven, research-oriented, and comparison-focused. They want to know costs, averages, pros and cons, and real-world outcomes. They feel confident when they’ve done their homework and anxious when decisions feel rushed or under-informed.

The Harmonizer
“I just want everyone to be happy.”
A Quick Description
The Harmonizer plans through relationships and emotional awareness. They think constantly about family dynamics, guest comfort, traditions, and how the day will feel for other people. They are empathetic, flexible, and deeply considerate — sometimes at their own expense

The Anchor
“Tell me what matters, I’ll support it.”
A Quick Description
The Anchor plans through steadiness and intention. They may not have experience with weddings or feel naturally drawn to the details, but they care deeply about their partner’s happiness and a few key elements that feel personally meaningful to them. They are supportive, grounded, and practical, preferring to contribute with purpose rather than manage every decision.
Understanding your wedding planning archetype isn’t about putting yourself in a box, it’s about giving yourself permission to plan in a way that actually works for you.
When you know how you process decisions, stress, and emotion, planning stops feeling like a constant uphill climb and starts feeling intentional. You stop fighting your instincts and start using them. That’s exactly how The Wedding Talk Membership was built.
